One of the things that really interests me is how women come to be left out of narratives which are considered ‘masculine.’ War is my primary area of focus, but it happens in so many others, too. And it’s even harder for women of color to have their accomplishments recognized alongside those of male counterparts.
Mountain climbing is a topic that I don’t know much about, but I was struck by this story from 2019 about Lhakpa Sherpa, who happens to live in my home state of Connecticut. She’s summited Everest NINE times, but doesn’t have a single endorsement deal, unlike many of her male counterparts.
